Nancy L. & Perry R. Bass Performance Hall Opening and Inaugural Performance

Purpose: Opening new 2,300 seat performance hall
Client: Bass Performance Hall & Paul Beard
Location: Fort Worth, Texas

Challenges

  • Create an event to communicate to the whole Dallas/Ft. Worth community that the new $80 million hall was built for everyone
  • Create an inaugural performance that included all the resident performing companies including: symphony, opera, ballet and local hero Van Cliburn, (over 300 performers and artists.)

Solution

To signal the hall was built for everyone, Dallas/Fort Worth community and performing groups alike, Herson Group produced a two-weekend opening. The first weekend- A Texas House Warming- invited the community to tour the hall, including backstage, and to experience taking a bow on stage as if they were part of a curtain call.

The second weekend presented an inaugural performance Whose Hall Is It Anyway? staring Carol Burnett, Frederica Von Stade, Van Cliburn and all the resident performing groups celebrating the opening of their new home.

Response

"BRAVO! Elegant crowd cheers Bass Hall debut, hottest ticket in town. A shining start."

Ft. Worth Star-Telegram

"This is a dream come true."
