Cornell University
Far Above... The Campaign for Cornell Launch

Purpose: Announcing public phase of $4 billion campaign
Client: Cornell University, Alumni Affairs and Development
Location: Ithaca, New York
Video: View video of event

Challenge

  • Announce the largest comprehensive capital campaign in Cornell’s history: $4 billion
  • Communicate an inspiring vision for Cornell’s future
  • Re-invent the paradigm for a capital campaign launch event

Solution

Using giant 60 ft. screens, Herson Group created a 3-D case statement- a dynamic exhibition of living and learning, research and outreach at Cornell today- in Ithaca, New York, the world, and beyond. The constantly changing walls projected photographs and videos that communicated the priorities and messages of the campaign. Highlighted faculty and students moved through the space interacting with the guests. Much of the programming moved to Internet communications following the live event.

Response

"Two days without a hitch! Wow, your team is very cool. I think your brand of communications is exciting and creative. Let’s do many more projects together!"

Tommy Bruce, VP Communications

"The event was extraordinarily creative and great fun. The result is exactly as intended… the alumni are excited about the vision for Cornell and want to be part of the future. People kept raving about Friday night all weekend."

Jan Rock Zubrow, Campaign Co-Chair

"This is a great work of art all on its own."

Frank Robinson, Director of Cornell’s Johnson Museum
